Varsity tryouts will be highly competitive. It is our goal to communicate daily with players, especially juniors and seniors. We will have to cut juniors from the program, unfortunately. We will also have to send 9th and 10th graders to JV tryouts- this does NOT mean that they are being cut.
Varsity tryouts are open to all 11th and 12th graders, as well as exceptional 9th and 10th graders. This year, due to space constraints, we will be evaluating more players than before and we ask that players in 9th and 10th grade come only if they feel they would be in the top 20-25 lacrosse players at CVU.

As far as we know, our spring season is ON, assuming that Covid-19 cases in Vermont remain the same or go down. (Please continue to follow the governor's guidelines so we can do our part!)
In past years, we would have started the season March 22, but we think that after extending the winter season, VPA may start spring sports April 5. Nothing is certain, however, and we will wait to hear from the governor and VPA...soon...
I will keep checking vpaonline.org for updates, which they will publish in March 2021. There is a link to Covid-19 Guidelines on the VPA site.
______________________________________________________________________________________________
Please note that our season will start before April Break, and at this point, we will have V and JV practices and games over the break. It is likely that we will not have JVB practices or games over the break. The Varsity and JV teams will likely have a few days off, but we will be following all state guidelines surrounding quarantine and travel.
***If you and your family are considering traveling during the April Break, please consider the Vermont travel restrictions and guidelines as well as the impact your travel would have on your player's team.
______________________________________________________________________________________________
There is no way to know what and how tryouts will look this spring, as we will be presumably be operating under Covid restrictions from the Vermont Agency of Education. Will we be able to use the indoor space at Shelburne Field House? Will we have a limited number of athletes allowed at one time? Will we have enough space in the CVU Gym? Will our field be covered in snow until May?
We have had large numbers of players come to varsity tryouts in the past, and it will be another highly competitive tryout process this year. We are very fortunate to be able to have had 3 teams for girls lacrosse at CVU and hope that continues. The number of lacrosse programs across the state has declined in recent years giving us very few opponents for a third team.

2020 News
2020
Our season has been cancelled due to the school closures because of COVID-19.
Here is the press release from the VPA.
While you are waiting for our season to start, you should be preparing your body to be ready. We will only have 5 days of tryouts/practices before our first possible contest, so we will need all players to be ready to run and play lacrosse!
With social distancing requirements, there are no pre-season conditioning gatherings. I highly recommend you doing what you love, at home if you can: yoga, pilates, spinning, rowing, running, and then do home workouts like tabada.
Yoga With Adriene is a free at-home yoga site. Adriene creates monthly calendars, but there are lots of videos available: varying lengths, varying intensity levels, etc. You do not need to know how to do yoga, and it's all free! She's very positive and is a lovely human.
Preseason Conditioning Packet that I found online. Take or Leave it. There are some parts of this that can be really useful and can be done at home, if you have some space.
Tabata!
There are great group workouts (to be done online together) for many different types. This site has a free 30-day trial.
There is also a 7-minute workout app my family has been using. It's super simple but easy to use. You can download the app onto your phone or computer.
Wall Ball Routine from US National Team Member Megan Douty
Stay tuned for more ideas!

Spring Sports in Vermont is interesting! Thank you for your flexibility! Without a turf field at CVU, we will practice in the gym, in the parking lots, and we are hoping that the varsity can go to the Shelburne Field House for some early practices. Players need to bring appropriate clothing and footwear to every practice/try out: indoor and outdoor shoes and clothing.
If you are interested in getting involved in the Turf Project, please follow @cvuturf2 on twitter.
Our Varsity Tryouts will begin on March 23, 2020 (one week later this year because of a shift in VPA). Times are TBD. Usually our gym time is later in the evening: 6:30-8:30ish, but there may be opportunities to hold varsity tryouts at the Shelburne Field House in the early morning times (5:45-7:15ish).
The link to our Game Schedules is here:

**Please note that Spring Vacation 2020 is April 17-24, but we will have Varsity and JV games on both Saturdays of the break. If you are planning a trip, the days off for varsity and JV players will be Sunday, April 19- Wed. April 22.
**Please Note:
Everyone should be prepared to run outside (layered clothing, a hat, gloves, running shoes) and play lacrosse inside (mouthguard, goggles, inside clothes, clean sneakers) for EVERY practice!
(When we get onto the field, cleats and sneakers will be required for every practice.)
